Gas explosions are a common and terrifying cause of house fires. They can occur even to the most careful of home owners, especially if the house lacks the proper monitors to detect gas leaks. While gas explosions can range in severity, they often result in serious injury or even death. These explosions are particularly dangerous in urban areas with higher population density, where there is a higher chance of people being injured. For this reason, it was a harrowing scene in the City of Manchester earlier this week when a gas explosion rocked a terraced house.

Luckily, while the house was destroyed by the explosion, there were no casualties. However, there were two individuals who suffered serious injuries and three others who had to be treated for minor injuries. The situation surely would have been much worse were it not for the efforts of the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service. The swift and heroic actions of these first responders ensured that although the explosion had injured several people, the aftermath would not cause any subsequent harm. As well, those who required medical attention were treated as quickly as possible.

However, that is not quite where this story ends. Although explosions are dangerous and relatively rare, this particular explosion stands out from most others. This is because amongst the rubble from the house, a tiny kitten was found. Miraculously, this adorable feline somehow managed to survive the explosion and was lucky enough to be found by the first responders. Its nose and ears were singed by the fire, but it was otherwise healthy. Word quickly spread about the rescue of the tiny tabby after the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service posted pictures of the cat on its Twitter account.

The pictures showed the slightly singed but still adorable cat getting a rub from one of its rescuers. In addition to this type of care, the firefighters stated that they are taking great care of the cat. Although the pictures and the story behind them spread quickly on the news and Internet, the cat still remains in the care of the firefighters. As of yet, it does not appear as though anyone has come forward to claim the kitten and bring it home. However, it is certainly lucky not only to have survived such a dangerous situation, but also to have been rescued by firefighters with such large hearts.

Clearly, the world is a very dangerous place. While most people worry about dangers like financial security, impaired drivers, illness, and other issues like these, there are often sudden and unexpected moments which can be life-threatening. It is incredible that this small tabby endured a gas explosion with nothing more than minor burns to show for it. With the help of compassionate and hard working first responders, hopefully everyone in similar situations will be able to live to see another day. The story of this cat’s survival and pampering is a reminder that first responders like firefighters are courageous individuals whose work saves lives every day, whether human or animal.
