Are we to believe that people out there are still superficial and think that Black Cats lead to bad luck? I sure hope not. Because for whatever reason it turns out that Black Cats are having a hard time finding homes these days.
Recently the Naperville Sun Times reports that:
Susan Knight, office manager at Aurora Animal Control and Care Facility, said black cats often go unnoticed by potential owners.
“Sometimes they get overlooked because there are so many of them here,” Knight said. “Many people are looking for more colorful cats, but some people have superstitions about black cats as well.”
Rich Glessner goes on to say:
“There are some people that are superstitious and think having a black cat is unlucky, and some cultures that believe that, too,” Glessner said. “But, most people who have black cats would tell you, they are the most lovable of cats.”
Turns out that also people are less inclined to adopt cats, not kittens. Kittens are apparently universally cute so the people who come into the shelters don’t necessarily stereotype when it comes to kittens. Well frankly that just annoys us here at Kittentoob. And just to show how great black cats are, we’ve included a lovely picture gallery after the jump…..
Now who wouldn’t want to take one of these little guys in! Come on!
