When two high school football players were on their way home one day, they heard something that made them want to stop and investigate. George Lampros and Max Sergio are star football players in their senior year of high school. What they heard was a screech and a terrified crying. They realized very quickly that it was a cat stuck in a drainpipe near one of the boy’s home. What they saw when they investigated was horrible. The cat was hanging on, but only barely, as water rushed over his body. The cat was clearly very weak and was not going to be able to hold on much longer. The boys called the police, but they knew that they could not wait. They ran home, grabbed rope and a bucket from the garage as well as a crowbar. They took it upon themselves to pry open the drainpipe.
They then tied up the bucket and dropped it down into the pipe and used a shovel to get the cat to let go and fall into the bucket. The bucket was filled with water, but the it was also filled with the cat. They slowly lifted it out of the pipe and brought the cat to safety. Sadly, the cat was immediately happy to jump out of their bucket and run off into the nearby woods, where they were unable to find it. They don’t know if it is a lost pet or a stray, but they did the right thing. To further make their day, the boys went on to win a huge game that night, and their coach named them the MVPs of not only the game, but also as people for taking the time to do what they did.
