Beagle Mix Dog Fosters Three Abandoned Kittens

Who says cats and dogs can’t be friends… or even family?! Mary, a Beagle mix at the Animal Shelter of Pickens County, squashes the theory that cats and dogs don’t get along, as the dog fosters three abandoned kittens that were dropped off at the shelter without a mother. An experienced mother herself, Mary has already birthed seven puppies, which is probably the reason she ended up at the shelter.

The video below, which was taken by Mari Livsey, shows shelter worker Judy Moody feeding theĀ kittens while the mama dog gently grabs her feline babies and places them in the cage with her and her puppies. You can see Mary feeding her pups while also lovingly grooming her formerly abandoned kittens. The most amusing part of the almost-three minute video is when Mary impatiently tries to grab the kitten Moody is feeding – the only cat not in the cage with her – and ends up prying the kitty out of Moody’s grasp. It’s such an endearing, motherly moment that is sure to warm your heart, as well as give you a bit of a chuckle!
