Way to give a whole new meaning to the term “scaredy cat,” cat! After police responded to a report of a home burglary in Portland, Oregon, an orange tabby cat wanted to stay close by an officer – so close it ended up on top of a police officer’s shoulders! Talk about total cat bonds!
According to Sergeant Pete Simpson, police were called in on Monday afternoon after a woman had returned home after work, only to find out that her house had been burglarized. When officers came in search for a suspect, one Officer Sarah Kerin made note of seeing glass in the basement as well as the bathroom. Since the woman’s cat was running around on the floor, Kerwin picked up the feline in order to ensure it didn’t injure itself by walking on the broken glass. The cat then decided to climb up the officer’s shoulders and didn’t budge from there until police officers finished looking around the house, searching for a perpetrator. No burglar has been found… yet.
“No suspects were found but several personal items were discovered missing after the burglary,” a spokesman for the Portland Police said. “Officers contacted a neighbor who told police that she saw a suspicious man in the neighborhood earlier in the day that seemed interested in the activities of the neighborhood. The witness described the man as a white male, 30-40 years old, 5’9″ tall, skinny build, curly brown hair, wearing a dark-colored track suit with pants tucked into his socks and boots. Another neighbor described seeing an older white van, driven by a white male with dark hair and sunglasses, driving through the neighborhood.”
