Cat’s Life Saved after Spending a Week with Head Stuck in a Mayonnaise Jar

They say that cats have nine lives, and one cat in Wilkes-Barre, PA, in particular, is spending its days counting those nine lives now, after a wild week it recently had.

Cats will often find themselves in the most peculiar predicaments, largely due to their big curiosities – you know the saying, “Curiosity killed the cat?” Well, this feline could have been one, but it was lucky enough to be rescued before that happened. This feline was rescued from having its head stuck in a mayo jar at the Pittston Animal Hospital, according to WNEP.

Fittingly, this stray cat was given the name, Miracle, after it was found running around in the area of Chestnut Street in Wilkes-Barre.

A resident of Wilkes-Barre, Linda Ruggere, told WNEP, “I saw this cat coming to eat and it had a mayo jar and I was like, ‘Oh, my God!’ and it ran away. The next day, I was literally able to get the mayo jar and try to get its head popped out and it ran away again.”

Ruggere went on to explain that she is one of the residents who tries to help take care of stray cats on the streets in the area, but this was one cat that really worried her. She said that all the cars driving by on the streets was only one of the concerns for the cats. There were a lot of other threats posed to the short-haired cat out there.

She explained how there is often the site of a dead cat on the road. You can just be driving down the road and see one and she said that it is just a horrible sight to see, especially for cat lovers.

A non-profit organization known as, Volunteers at Whisker’s World, takes care of cats before they release them back into the world, and are the ones who brought little Miracle into the Pittston Animal Hospital. Once there, Dr. Inayat Kathio was the who worked on the feline and removed the jar, using a pair of scissors.

Dr. Kathio was born in Pakistan and he uses his job for helping those are not able to help themselves. He is quoted as saying, “I was inspired by America. When I was a little kid, America came to school gave us food and vaccinations and America has been doing great things for other countries.”

And like many other cats helped by Whiskere’s World, the cat named Miracle, was later released back into the wild.
