Miracle Cat Bijou Survives a 3400 Mile Journey

bisou the cat

According to the Daily Mail, Bijou the cat survived a 3,400 mile journey after she traveled inside the owner’s Mervat Ciuti’s bag from Cairo to London stacked in the plane’s luggage hold. Bisou hopped into Mervat Ciuti’s luggage for a nap at her home in Cairo, Egypt as the woman packed to visit her sister Monica in Nottinghamshire, UK. Then Mervat unwittingly zipped her pet into her luggage and locked the case as she rushed to get a cab waiting to take her to the airport.

Bisou slipped unnoticed through security at Cairo and was stacked into the hold of the plane with hundreds of other bags for the six-hour flight into London’s Heathrow Airport.  Mervat was traveling up the M1 highway in a taxi when she got a call from worried relatives back home saying that the cat was missing. The taxi pulled over and there was the cat, trembling and unnerved but otherwise unhurt, sitting in the baggage.

Bisou now has to sit in quarantine at Calagran Quarantine Kennels in Chesterfield until she can return to her family in Egypt this summer.  All we can say is thank God that Bisou is OK!

Also a H/T to Lifewithcats for their interpretation as well.
