It was a harrowing rescue attempt to save this kitty, now known as Peter Piper, in Miami recently. This little cat was stuck in an underground drain outside of a Walgreens pharmacy when shoppers heard him crying. It took some time before locals were able to figure out where the cat was, and where the sound was coming from. When they finally realized that this gorgeous cat was stuck in the bottom of a drain, they worked quickly to figure out a way to get him out of there and back to safety, a job that usually doesn’t take too long in most instances.
However, it turns out that this is a job that took much longer than rescuers thought it might take, and this little cat was in serious trouble. It took dozens of people from Walgreens, rescue operations, the animal shelter, the police, the fire department, a plumbing company and even the vet to get this cat out of the drain; and it all took more than 24 hours to make happen. Thankfully, one small miracle seems to be that the cat was not too badly injured. He was more hungry and shaken up than anything else, and he is on the mend.
The even happier story is that Peter Piper was rescued, and he has a new family. Homeless and on his own before his dramatic Miami rescue, this kitten now has a family of his own to love, and a place to call home. Few things are as happy and wonderful as that, and we are thrilled that someone was willing to come forward and open up both his heart and his home to a cat that went through some horrifying circumstances so that he now has a home of his own. It’s a heartwarming story all the way around
