Firefighters Save the Lives of Two Cats in Unfortunate House Fire

There are times when someone might ask you a question such as what you’d need with you if you were stranded on a deserted island for the rest of your life (water and chapstick and books). They might ask you what you might rescue if your house was on fire and you could grab only one thing – other than your family because they are already safe and ready to exit with you. It’s a loaded question. Some of the most common answers are typically things like photographs, heirloom items that are important to their family or even their children’s favorite blanket or toy so that their entire world is not ruined. If you have pets, you probably want to save them.

For one family in Hilton, their Monday morning started out by really requiring them to find an answer to this question. They were stuck in their home when it caught on fire. The family of five with five cats of their own were in the house when the fire began in the early hours of the morning. Unfortunately, not everyone was able to safely exit the home on time, and they were forced to head up onto the roof. Three of the family members made it out in time, and the other two were rescued by local firefighters who were able to get to the roof to save them. They were also able to grab two of the cats in the house and take them onto the roof, too, so firefighters were able to rescue the darling felines.

Aside from some smoke inhalation for which they are receiving treatment, these two cats are just fine. Sadly, there is no news as to whether or not the other three cats were able to make it out of the house in time. Hopefully they were, but it’s always a good day when firefighters are able to save lives.
