Hairless Sphynx Cat That Looks Like Gollum from Lord of the Rings Goes Viral

Hairless Sphynx

People are wondering if that hairless sphynx lurking under the covers is in fact Gollum from Lord of the Rings! We happen to agree with this assessment and the social media world has been abuzz about it for the last 24 hours or so. Most Sphynx cats are known for their lack of fur and lemon-shaped eyes but not often are they compared to JRR Tolkien characters.

This picture of the goblin-esque looking cat reaching for a pair of tweezers with a claw that we must admit looks eerily human has sparked much interest and debate online. It has garnered thousands of comments on social sharing sites like Reddit and Imgur.

The comparisons with Gollum, the good Hobbit turned bad, are vast. The latest film, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, hits cinemas on Friday, December 12. So what do you think? Is this cat Gollum?
