Is Your Cat Drinking Enough Water?

  • Diet –If your cat eats dry food they will need a significant amount of water to stay hydrated. Dry food only contains approximately 10% water. If you have a cat and a dog the benefits of wet food between both greatly vary. While dry food is better for dogs it is believed that wet food is better for cats. Wet cat food contains approximately 80% water which will keep them hydrated much better than dry food. If you are feeding your cat dry food be sure that your cat always has fresh water available.
  • Size – This is a no-brainer; The bigger your cat is the more water he/she will require. If you have a small cat there should always be freshwater made available. Bottom line? Clean water all of the time, period.
