Is Your Cat Drinking Enough Water?

How To Add Water To Your Cats Daily Intake

Typically a cat is not going to drink water unless they are thirsty. Making sure your cat gets the proper amount of water may take a bit of encouragement or a few simple steps on your part.

  1. If your cat is eating wet canned food, add about 1 teaspoon of water to their bowl of food. Do not add water to dry food because this may cause the food to spoil. Remember: If your cat eats dry cat food, water – water – water!
  2. Be sure to replenish your cat’s bowl with clean water. Just as we like water that is fresh and clean our cats probably enjoy that too, right?
  3. Filtered water or spring water is always the better choice over tap water. Tap water often contains a high concentration of minerals that your cat doesn’t need as well as chlorine. Yuk!
