One of the most positive things we’ve seen coming out of Hurricane Matthew was a tweet from a Petsmart working in North Carolina. It’s a recent photo of an adorable kitten in a sock sweater. But there’s more to the photo then just this picture. The tweet reads: “I’m at petco and THEY FOUND A KITTEN IN THE STORM AND PUT HER IN A LITTLE SWEATER.” At last count that tweet has been shared over 65,000 times and has been liked by almost 120,000 people.
The little kitten had been rescued from Hurricane Matthew and the customer, known as Sarah, noticed it after she overheard a family talking to a vet assistant about looking for a new cat. The assistant brought out a tiny baby tabby wrapped up in a little sock sweater to keep her warm, and it was clearly love at first sight for the family who immediately decided to adopt the kitten.
While the hurricane was devastating and we certainly mourn those families who lost loved ones, it’s nice to actually smile once in a while when we see something like this. Not only did this kitty get a new home but she also good a sock sweater to boot! We wish this little kitty the safest and best life going forward.
