Cat Breed of the Day: Selkirk Rex

selkirk-rex_1

From CatsterSelkirk Rex cats are mellow cats that love to be with people. They are affectionate, and like to play. They also get along well with kids and other pets. The Selkirk Rex should not be groomed too often since frequent brushing relaxes the curls. These very social cats do not do well if left alone for long periods of time. The Selkirk Rex is not hypoallergenic, as some people believe. The Selkirk Rex is distinguished by its soft, curly coat. The breed comes in shorthaired and longhaired varieties, each with a distinct curl to its hair.

Do any of you out there own a Selkirk Rex?  If so we’d love for you to share any great photos you have.  Also, if there are some funny or inspirational stories about your Selkirk we’d love to hear about them so we can include them on this website.  In the meantime we hope you enjoy this gallery of photos of Selkirk Rex cats and kittens in the pages to follow!
