Five Grumpy Cat Memes for the Holiday Season
Grumpy Cat, as we already know, is not really grumpy. This little feline just looks grumpy thanks to a condition called feline dwarfism, which causes the cat to look grumpy all the time. Grumpy Cat doesn’t even go by this name. She’s a lovely little kitty who goes by the name Tardar Sauce, and she’s been famous since her “uncle” posted a photo of her to his Reddit account back in 2012. The little cat is not quite 3-years-old, and already an internet sensation that is so popular she’s starring in her own movie out this Christmas (tune into the Lifetime Network to watch for yourself).
Grumpy Cat is really, really famous; like, super famous (written with our best valley girl voice in use). She’s arguably the most popular cat in the world, and she’s everywhere. You cannot look at Pinterest without seeing a Grumpy Cat meme. You cannot look at Facebook without seeing a Grumpy Cat meme. You cannot look at Twitter without seeing a Grumpy Cat meme. Grumpy Cat is so famous you can’t even look at someone who says something ridiculous without immediately picturing Grumpy Cat and a meme in your head. That’s how famous this cat is. And since it’s the holiday season and Grumpy Cat has a holiday movie debuting soon, we thought we’d share our favorite Grumpy Cat memes with you – all perfect for the holiday season.
“All of the other reindeer, used to laugh and call him names….Good”
It’s not the holiday season without a little Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer, but the song can be a bit tedious the 2587th time you have to hear it on the radio, coming from the mouths of your children or over the loudspeaker at work – because your boss wants you to get into the holiday cheer. So sometimes you just want to tell the song to go away. And sometimes you think to yourself, “You know, I hate Rudolph. After 30-plus years of hearing about his misfortune and his happy ending, maybe I’m just tired of Rudolph. If that’s where you are in life, then we invite you to love this meme. It’s funny.
“Those Candy Canes are making you fatter”
Well, they are. Or maybe not. Has anyone ever taken the time to look into just how many calories a candy cane contains? They’re glorified breath mints, are they not? Doesn’t that make them automatically healthy and not at all bad for you on the holiday party circuit? I mean, you did have all those cocktails that had little candy canes in them (instead of umbrellas) and now you’re feeling a bit guilty.
The good news is that several internet searches state that the approximate calorie count in a candy cane is only 60. It’s not great, but it’s not 300, either. This means you have to go on a 20-ish minute walk to ensure that you work off the calories that come with eating a candy cane. That’s not so bad when you think about it. On that note, allow us to recommend you eat candy canes while shopping. There are your 20 minutes of walking and several guilt-free candy canes.
“Silent Night. Good.”
If you’re a new parent, old parent, or any parent that understands what it’s like to wake up because children don’t seem to want to sleep, this is the Grumpy Cat meme for you. We all like a silent night. We think this cat might mean something different, like perhaps the fact that all people should just be quiet and all things enjoyable, but the point is pretty much the same. Here’s to Grumpy Cat just saying what we’ve all wanted him to say for a long time. Be quiet. Be silent. Let us enjoy life without hearing from people. Dare to dream.
“Dashing through the….No”
If this meme doesn’t put an immediate stop to your holiday cheer, I don’t know what will. We all love the holidays, but sometimes it does become a bit tedious to hear the same songs, do the same things, and spend entirely too long doing things you don’t want to do because it’s the holidays. For example, we’re all a bit tired of hearing Christmas music playing in all stores before Thanksgiving arrives. We’re all a bit tired of standing in long lines because stores want extra people to shop but don’t want to pay extra people to work, and the holiday cheer is a bit overwhelming at 8 am. So sometimes, we want to say no. And that makes us happy. Maybe a little bit like Scrooge, but mostly just happy.
“All I want for Christmas….Is to punch you”
That sums it up, doesn’t it? We’re not all doom and gloom during the holidays, but every so often, we do get that feeling. To the person in line in front of us arguing about the cost of something for 40 minutes – we get that you want to save a few bucks, but they’re charging you a dollar extra. We all want to go home. I’ll pay the dollar if you just be quiet and go. Coworkers demand a bit of this feeling sometimes during the holidays. That one lady in the office who wears jingle bells and dresses like Santa’s personal elf helper for 4 weeks until Christmas Day arrives – you might think of her when you see this meme. Even if you can’t give it to anyone for fear of being rude or annoying you, you can still keep it in your phone or pin it to your Pinterest page so that you can look at it, smile and relax a bit when you picture that along with the person who is annoying you.
It’s all fun and games when it comes to Grumpy Cat, and we can’t pass up the opportunity to enjoy a little holiday ‘spirit’ with the angriest looking animal on the planet. We love the holidays, but we all have that moment (or two) when one of these memes would make perfect sense.
