Woman in Connecticut Opens a Cat Resort

Cat Hotel

It seems like society has such a fixation with dogs that they forget that many people equally love their cats. While for years, doggie day care has been enjoyed by countless dog owners around the country, cats were seemingly left out of the equation. It seemed as if people were under the assumption that cats did not miss their owners when they are were away. Cats deserve to be pampered just like the rest of the animal kingdom, yet the options were largely limited. That is also what one enterprising woman in Connecticut felt. She noticed that many cats were just left on their own in the absence of their owners. The owners, for their part, would certainly love to have an option available to them similar to that which has long been there for dogs. That is where the idea for a cat resort was born. It is Connecticut and it was proven to be wildly popular. Here is the story.

The Story

Kim Thomas wanted to create a place where cats felt welcome. That is why she opened the cat resort in Avon, Connecticut. It is truly cats only. No dogs are allowed, so do not even try. Kim set out to create a place that we designed just for cats. Her business opened in September and bookings have been solid ever since. The idea was born out of her noticing that everything in the animal kingdom seemed to be focused on dogs. That largely left cats out of the equation. While cats might be a bit more independent and free spirited than dogs, that does not mean that they do not want to be pampered and constantly looked after as well. That is why Kim set out to create their own space. It is friendly for cats, containing the very amenities that they carve the most, while also being quiet and peaceful. These are all things that appeal to cats. There will be no loud barking dogs in this facility. You might hear the occasional meow indicating that the cats are happy, but that is it.

The Details

It is interesting to know that Kim also started other pet oriented business. Namely, she is the owner of West Hartford Pet Sitters and a mobile dog grooming business. You might that she loves animals. At the same time, it is this experience that helped her to realize cats needed their own space. They are unique. They need a different type of environment in which to thrive and be comfortable in. This is why you will notice that her cat resort contains a lot of windows to allow in natural light. Remember that cats are meant to be outdoor creatures. While they do now thrive indoors, they still crave the outdoors. By letting in that natural light and allowing them to see outside, their entire demeanor becomes more calm and relaxed.

When Kim set out to create the resort, she wanted to recreate the look and feel of an owner’s house. That is how the cats would feel most welcome. Since they love to climb trees, for example, she has plenty of toys in the building to recreate this experience. She consulted a number of experts in the field to create just the perfect environment. All of the furniture in the building is made specifically for cats. At the same time, each piece receives the highest of safety ratings, so cat owners will also feel comfortable allowing their precious feline to stay there. It is truly the best of both worlds.

The Accommodations

When you go to book a place for your cat at this resort, there will be living spaces that come in different sizes. There are also two large suites that you can opt for depending on how much pampering you really want to provide your cat with. It really does not matter what type of space you choose, however, as this place is made with pampering in mind. The cat will be well cared for and live a luxurious existence while they are at the resort. There is also a webcam installed so that owners can always keep an eye on their cat and provide them with that extra peace of mind that they need while they are away. It is never easy to leave a pet behind, no matter if it is for a few hours and a month. However, this is a place that makes it much easier.

Conclusion

There are many reasons why a person might want to put their cat in the resort. As for Kim, she came up with the notion of this business when she found that she was traveling more and more for her job. She would be forced to leave her two cats at home. When she returned, they would be a bit miffed and not pay her any attention. It was their way of letting her know that they were not happy about being left behind. That is why she wants cats to feel loved and cared for, even when duty calls the owner away. It certainly appears that she has come up with an excellent business concept here.
