10 Traditional Thai Siamese Cat Names and Meanings


Originating in what is now known as Thailand, the Siamese cat is one of the first distinctly recognized breeds of cats in the Orient. It’s since become of the most popular breeds in North America and Europe. Modern versions of the cat are characterized by their blue, almond-shaped eyes, large ears and slender, long body. These felines are extremely intelligent and social and need names to match their personality and intelligence. While you can name them pretty much anything, one unique way that you can go about naming your cat is taking the traditional route and giving them a Thai name. Asian cat names are perfect for Siamese cats, both male and female.

Here are 10 traditional Thai Siamese cat names and their meanings:

Mali (or Malee) – This name is meant for a female cat and means “flower” or “jasmine.” What a perfect way to describe your beautiful-as-a-flower feline!

Chanarong – This male cat name means “warrior,” which is the ultimate name for your little warrior of a kitty.

Vanida – A female cat’s name, this name means “girl.” It’s a pretty straightforward way to let others know what gender your cat is.

Kasem – Meaning “happiness,” this male cat name is perfect for the creature that brings you the most of it.

Isra – This female cat name has the meaning of “nocturnal journey” – talk about a one-of-a-kind name for a cat!

Niran – This cat name, meant for a male, means “eternal,” which is a great description of how much you’ll love your feline for.

Ratana – This female cat name means “crystal,” which is perfect for your shining star kitty.

Klahan – Meant as a name for a male cat, it means “brave” and is a great name for your tough feline.
