Ed Sheeran’s Cats Now Have an Instagram Account

If you’re familiar with names like Calippo and Dorito, you just might be following the Instagram account for Ed Sheeran’s cats. Some people might think it odd that a person sets up a social media account for their pet, but there’s really nothing odd about it at all. As a matter of fact, people all over the globe have been doing exactly the same thing and for animal lovers, it’s one more way to honor their pets and share them with rest of the world.

Sheeran has always been very clear that he’s an animal lover and when it comes to his two cats, he’s been in the habit of sharing pictures of them with his fans for a long time now. When people really love animals like Ed Sheeran obviously does, they share pictures of their animals the way other people share photos of their children. As a matter of fact, many pet parents consider their dogs, cats or other pets to be their children. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this. As a matter of fact, it’s rather endearing.

Without a doubt, many people have already seen multiple photos of Sheeran’s cats, thanks in large part to his stunning popularity as a musician. Once he decided to go ahead and create an Instagram account, it took off in virtually no time. The date, he’s got somewhere in the neighborhood of 100,000 followers and that count is rising on a daily basis. There are basically two reasons for this. The first is that he’s a popular musician and his fans obviously want to know more about anything else that he’s involved in, including the cats. The second is that there’s just something magical about animals and people have a tendency to follow their social media accounts, watch videos about animals and try to dive into their world. Maybe it’s because animals don’t come with all the pretense that so many humans do. They are what they are and they don’t apologize for it. After all, if an animal likes you you’ll know that right away. You’ll also know right away if they don’t like you. Wouldn’t it be nice if such clarity existed with human relationships as well?

For all of these reasons, people get involved with animals that aren’t even their own. If you have any doubt about that, look at the number of animal videos that show up on YouTube and other social media platforms. More importantly, take a look at the number of times those videos have been viewed. People have a tendency to be more interested in animals, largely because so many of these individuals find something lacking in many of their human relationships.

If you want to look at things from a less philosophical standpoint, much of the reason why these types of accounts are so popular is because the animals themselves are just funny. Cats have a tendency to be rather comical creatures and at times, they can be downright hilarious. Giving them their own Instagram account allows everyone else to follow whatever they decide to do during their daily lives. Sometimes it’s fairly mundane and sometimes it’s enough to keep you laughing for hours. The beauty of it is that you can check in as often or as infrequently as you like, but there’s always something new to find out when it comes to the daily lives of Ed Sheeran’s cats.

Dumb and Dumber

It’s also good to see a lighter side of musician himself. Fans of his music know that he can be quite serious but there’s always a more comical side that’s just under the surface, practically begging to be let out. Ed Sheeran is notoriously shy when it comes to dealing with interviews and similar things, so this is another way that he can connect with his fans on a more personal level without feeling the anxiety that often comes with meet and greets and other events.

In the end, this is a social media account that far exceeds the popularity of most accounts associated with human beings. If you take the time to look at the account itself it’s easy to understand why. It’s interesting, funny and heartwarming all at the same time. If you’re looking for something to fill a few spare minutes during a lunch hour or you just need a pick-me-up that will give you the courage you need to get through the rest of your day, this might be a good place to start.
