So you have decided that you are going to finally get your child that Ragdoll kitten they have been asking for.  You have finally given into their demands but you don’t know where to start looking for one of these animals.  You have asked around and even looked in your local paper but had no luck.  So where do you turn next?  Finding Ragdoll Cat Breeders can be difficult for some people that live in areas of the country that are less populated.  But with a few simple searches on the internet, you will find a lot of Ragdoll Cat Breeders that would love to work with you.  But buying an animal from afar, you have to take extra precautions.  Today we are going to learn some simple tips that will help protect you.

We all live in the world of the internet now and many us communicate via text and email.  While this is fine for some things, when you are dealing with money it’s a good idea to talk things out over the phone. By speaking to them over the phone you can get a better idea of what kind of person you are dealing with.  This is not as good as talking to them in person but it can give you a good idea about how honest they are.  If you are dealing with a person who doesn’t want to chat over the phone you should move onto someone else.

You should never ever purchase an animal or give out any money until you have received a written contract that is signed by both you and the breeder.  This can be conducted either via fax or certified mail and will protect you from fraud.  This is the only way to conduct business when you are dealing with someone that you don’t personally know.  So if they don’t do contracts then find someone that will.

Before you even start to discuss money make sure to ask for at least 3 references.  This will be people that have purchased animals from them in the past.  This will give you a good idea about the quality of animals they produce.  This information is a vital step in the right direction, so make sure to ask early on in the negations.  If they don’t have references it probably means they have not had enough experience under their belt and it would be wise to stay away from them.
