Thanks to a health issue commonly referred to as feline dwarfism, Tabatha Bundesen’s decidedly cute cat has become an internet sensation. Referred to as “Grumpy Cat” by the rest of the world, the cat who goes by the name of Tardar Sauce went from being obsolete to being a celebrity in her own right. Born in April 2012, the two-and-a-half year-old cat is everywhere. From memes on Pinterest to YouTube videos, the cat has her “uncle” to thank for her new found fame.
After a photo was posted to his Reddit account by Bundesen’s brother Bryan, back on September 22, 2012, Tardar Sauce rose instantly to celebrity status. She’s a lovely cat with a permanently judgmental and irritated expression. Even when Tardar Sauce is actually happy, her face looks angry and resigned. It’s led the cat to become the butt of many jokes, and to earn the moniker Grumpy Cat for going on two years now.
It was over the summer that Grumpy Cat received her own official Facebook Page (The Official Grumpy Cat), which has received more than 6 million “likes” in less than two months time. To add to the cat’s fame, she also graced the cover of The Wall Street Journal in May 2013 and was the cover model for the October 7, 2013 edition of New York Magazine.
Since her rise to fame two years ago, Grumpy Cat has had many red carpet moments, video moments and public appearances. She’s been on late night television shows, she’s been best dressed at award shows and she’s appeared continuously unimpressed with her own fame and accolades every step of the way. Read on to find out which moments have been some of Grumpy Cats best moments since becoming the world’s most famous feline.
Grumpy Cat on American Idol

One of the best moments for everyone during her appearance on the hit show was being referred to as “dawg” by former judge, Randy Jackson. She posed for grumpy photos with Jennifer Lopez, Ryan Seacrest and Keith Urban, as well.
Grumpy Cat Wins People’s Choice for Best Cat of the Year in 2013
Cats are common household pets, and many people love them. They’re often cute, frisky and downright hilarious, which prompts feline owners to post funny and adorable videos of their cats on websites such as YouTube and Facebook. Cat lovers everywhere decided that it only made sense to begin an award show for the best cats of the year in 2012, and the Annual internet Cat Video Festival was born in Minnesota. The adorable feline will star as herself in the network’s made for television movie, “Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever,” which is set to premier on an unknown date in December. The movie is set to portray Grumpy Cat as a cat that has a number of adventures as she navigates her way through the Christmas season, which suffice it to say, is not her favorite season of the year. Lifetime’s Vice President of original movies, Arturo Interian, has gone on the record to say that the movie is a bit of “Die Hard” mixed with “Home Alone.”
Grumpy Cat on the TODAY Show

The cat’s expression doesn’t change at all, even with the excitement of the morning going on around her.
Grumpy Cat on Good Morning America
In 2012, Grumpy Cat headed to Times Square to make an appearance on Good Morning America. Her visit to the set of the show prompted hosts to pose with photos of the cat that eventually turned into internet memes with the quote, “I don’t like morning people,” on the photos. Her owner sat down with Grumpy Cat and the morning hosts of the show, including Lara Spencer and Elizabeth Vargas to discuss her quick rise to fame, her condition and her grumpy face.

State Farm, the famous insurance company has a very famous slogan. “Like a Good Neighbor, State Farm is There,” is the insurance company’s famous quote. Grumpy Cat Does Pharrell
When Grumpy Cat attended the MTV Movie Awards in 2014, she was the hit of the red carpet. Like many of the movie stars at the award ceremony, she showed up in her award show finest. She was asked all over the red carpet who she was wearing and whether or not PETA would be happy with her real fur coat, which was a joke she found less than amusing. What made this moment in time one of Grumpy Cat’s best was the fact that she was dressed just like Pharrell, with his infamous forest ranger hat on her head. It was unanimous that Grumpy Cat wore it better.
Conan O’Brien Gives Nick Lachey a Hard Time Using Grumpy Cat
There was no actual purpose for Grumpy Cat’s appearance at the MTV Movie Awards, but she was there regardless. One of the best moments of the night, according to most of Hollywood, was the moment in which the host of the show, Conan O’Brien, joked that Grumpy Cat was more famous than most of Hollywood, and the fact that the cat had a better seat than Nick Lachey simply proved that point to everyone. It was a moment the crowd found uproariously funny, laughing a bit longer than they should have at the expense of both the cat and the former 98 Degrees singer.
Grumpy Cat on The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games is arguably one of the most popular movie franchises in the world right now, so it only makes sense that internet users would use Grumpy Cat to mock the film. One of the most beloved, and most pinned Grumpy Cat memes on Pinterest today is one in which the cat makes fun of The Hunger Games movie. The meme features a photo of Alicia Keys singing, “That Girl is on Fire,” which is the idea behind the dress worn by Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen when she is dressed for her first Games. In the meme, Grumpy Cat responds to Keys by saying, “Good. Let her burn,” which as thrilled millions.
Grumpy Cat and Honey Nut Cheerios
Even Cheerios got in on the action when it comes to Grumpy Cat. Since the cat’s fame has become so big, the company decided to make a point to include the cat in one of its ads promoting its favored cereal. Using its signature little honey bee, the commercial features Grumpy Cat lying on the couch in a standard living room staring at the honey bee as he flies in front of her face. To her credit, she doesn’t attack him. He goes on about the excitement behind the wonderful taste of Honey Nut Cheerios, and the cat continues to stare blankly at the bee. When the bee asks, “Not even a smile?” the phrase, “I am smiling,” appears on the screen. The bee then mumbles, “Someone should tell your face that,” and the cat quickly jumps up, prompting the bee to get away quickly, while continuing to promote the cereal.
Grumpy Cat, or Tardar Sauce, is a real life cat that always looks grumpy. Feline dwarfism caused her face to take on the look of a perpetually angry kitten, and it’s garnered this particular cat so much attention and fame that it’s almost unbelievable. Many people dream of making it big in Hollywood and spend their entire lives angling for fame that this cat received overnight thanks to her inability to help her facial expression.
