200 Cats Poisoned Inside of a Month in French Village

In a quiet little seaside resort in southern France, is a cat crisis happening. There is a serial cat killer that has put the entire area on edge due to the death of 200 cats. It is unnerving because it is so inhumane and it is happening to both the local strays, and resident’s pet cats. There have been 200 reported cat deaths in just a month in the resort area.

All of the victims of this mass cat murder crusade by the “cat serial killer” have died in Saint Pierre la Mer, which is about 90km (55 miles) south-west of Montpellier. The Society for the Protection of Animals has said that they have been overwhelmed with the number of calls that have been coming in.

It has been determined that the cause of death of all of these cats is by poison ingestion. Unfortunately, they weren’t the only ones affected by this manner of death, but rodents and birds have been found dead, too. And they were also determined to have ingested this same poison.

The scary thing is, in talking with The Society for the Protection of Animals, is that there is great fear that children may also come in contact with this poison and ingest it too. A villager named only as Genevieve, has said that the atmosphere has become tense and nobody trusts anyone right now because of this fear of children getting hold of this mystery poison.

The Association of Stray Cats has reported all of the events that have taken place, to the police, hoping that autopsies of these cats and other animals will take place and help them in their fight to stop this horrible crime. The police believe it is a very sick and twisted person who is carrying out these crimes and deliberately killing these animals.
